I wanted to run Windows 7 BootCamp on my new MacBook Air. I didn’t want to spring for the external SuperDrive for a one-time use, and BootCamp says you have to have a physical drive. Â Turns out, with a little tweaking, you can use a USB flash drive instead.
- Install rEFIt on the MacBook Air. Sometimes you have to reboot twice before rEFIt works.
- Use the Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool to create a bootable USB drive with the Windows 7 ISO.
- Reboot the MacBook Air and boot off the USB Flash drive.
That’s it. It’s actually pretty easy.
